Team Impact/Outreach

FIRST Robotics and the Grease Monkeys work to provide students in our community with opportunities to learn about STEM fields. This can develop interests and lead to potential careers in robotics & manufacturing. In the 2024-2025 school year, Grease Monkey Robotics had the opportunity to be recognized by the South San ISD board of directors for our dedication to FIRST and our community service.

Every year, the Grease Monkeys serve their community as much as they possibly can. This is accomplished through our robot demonstrations at college fairs, manufacturing events, and other STEM-related events held by our school and district. We also take our robot to outreach programs at schools, local businesses, and trade shows to show off all the hard work that our team members have done. We are committed to impact and inclusion, both main core values of FIRST Robotics. In previous seasons, our team has mentored new FIRST teams in order to foster success.

For the upcoming season, we are planning to continue and expand the scope of our outreach with the following events:

  • Manufacturing Day

  • NTX/STEMGals Tournament Of Robots

  • Texas State University AITP Symposium (San Marcos, TX)

  • San Antonio Hispanic Chamber Of Commerce CORE4

  • South Central Texas Manufacturing Trade Show & Conference

  • St. Phillip's Science Extravaganza

Additionally, we would also like to expand our outreach by including these events:

  • SSAHS Prep Day Recruiting

  • By hosting multiple teams for the FIRST Robotics Competition Kick-Off

  • Texas A&M at Kingsville Engineering Design Expo

  • FIRST LEGO League Introductory Camp for elementary school students in SSAISD
